Building Resilience to Climate Change in the Pacific islands.

The ACP-EU Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) in collaboration with the Embassy of Vanuatu and with the Pacific Group of Ambassadors will organise the 9th regional Briefing on Building resilience to climate change and greening the economy in the Pacific which will be hosted by the Government of Vanuatu.
The Briefing will promote exchange of experience and expertise at regional level and with the Caribbean group and will discuss among others the Pacific islands vulnerabilities to climate change, the climate change negotiations that are relevant to Pacific islands and what frameworks are needed to operationalise the Rio+20 agreements. It will look at the specific challenges and solutions for agriculture and the environment in Pacific islands, especially at enhancing the resilience to the effects of climate change, greening the economy and enhancing sustainable development.
This Briefing will build upon earlier Briefings on resilience of small island economies that were held in Brussels, Mauritius and St Lucia organized with the European Commission, the ACP Group of Ambassadors, Concord and other partners. It will feed into the 1st ACP Council of Ministers on Climate Change to be held in Brussels from 7 to 9 November 2012. The outputs will feed the 18th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC which will take place from 26 November to 7 December 2012 at the Qatar National Convention Centre in Doha, Qatar.
